PASSPORTS!  Do you really need a United States Passport to get into Canada?  No you do not at the moment.  However, having a passport does speed up your entrance into Canada.  If you are 18 years or older you just need a State issued photo identification card.  If you are not yet 18 you must also have a State issued photo identification card, and the Parental Release Form (found below).

Returning to the United States of America, might be more challenging.  As of June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI.  The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry (this covers entry into the U.S. via canoe also) to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.  All participants entering Canada for the 2009 Season SHOULD and Leaders MUST have a U.S. Passport.  Click here to go to the U.S. State Department web site.

RABC Remote Area Border Crossing (CAN PASS) This application must be completed and submitted to Canadian Immigration with enough time for them to process and return to you.  Northern Tier cannot issue a RABC.  This Permit is ONLY NEEDED for Crews entering Canada from the Charles L. Sommers Wilderness Canoe Base.
Parental Release Form Youth entering Canada must have this form completed by a parent prior to arriving at the border.
