  SEASONAL POSITIONS

Northern Tier National High Adventure Base

Interpreter - This person accompanies  the crews going out on canoe trips. Other duties are assigned, as needed, and may include working in other areas of the operation. Minimum age 18 

Check In Officer - Checks in participants, helps in the administrative office as needed, and prepares participant packets. 

Business Clerk - Enters crew rosters, crew evaluations, prepares promotional materials, helps with filing, answers phone, and other clerical duties.

Dining Hall Staff - Clean and maintain dining hall and kitchen, clean dishes, assist cooks in meal preparation, assist with inventory and receiving of supplies. Minimum age 16

Bay Post Manager - Responsible for trail equipment used to outfit crews going on canoe trips. Duties include issuing and maintaining equipment, keeping the Bay Post clean, and supervising other Bay Post staff. 

Bay Post Assistant - Assist with equipment issue and maintenance, and clean-up of the Bay Post building. 

Commissary Manager - Responsible for packing and issuing trail food, keeping the food packing area clean, and supervising other food packing staff. 

Commissary Assistant - Assist with packing and issuing of trail food, and clean-up of food packing area. 

Trading Post Manager - Responsible for displays, inventories, sales, simple bookkeeping, cleanliness of the Trading Post, and supervising other Trading Post staff. 

Trading Post Clerk - Assist with displays, inventory, sales, and clean-up of the Trading Post. 

Maintenance Assistant - Assist with upkeep and maintenance of the base facilities.

Custodial Manager - Supervises all custodial duties of base, orders supplies, supervises custodial staff.

Custodial Staff - Responsible for all base custodial duties

History Staff - Responsible for Rendezvous ceremonies, living history program, voyageur interpretive displays, Hedrick library

    Position Requirements:

In general, we look for a strong Scouting background and an age of 18 years or older, although a few positions for 16 and 17 year old staff may be available. When filling out the application, be certain to include all experiences that relate to the position(s) for which you are applying. References are important, and should be chosen carefully. A Scoutmaster, teacher, and/or a clergyman might be good people to ask.

    Application Deadline:

It will be to your advantage to send a completed application as soon as possible. Staff hiring often continues into May for some positions. Please call us for availability!

    staff Recommendation Forms:

Please have at least three of your references fill out a recommendation form and mail it to the Northern Tier. Recommendation forms are included in the downloadable application form accessed by the link below. References should be from a former/present employer, teacher, professor, counselor, Scouting leader, etc. Do not use your best friend as a reference! If you are currently involved in the Scouting program, one of your references should be from your local council professional staff.

    Pay and Benefits:

Starting pay varies with position and tenure. Starting pay for most new staff is approximately $199 per week ($868 Month), plus room and board. All employees are covered by Workman's Compensation for the job injuries as well as a limited accident and sickness policy. These pay guidelines are for United States Staff. Canadian staff compensation may differ.

    summer Season Dates:

Staff are hired to begin in early June, and are required to be available through the third week of August.
